Long-term fans of the Sift Heads saga will know that right from the very beginning, the game that they love has offered top-quality first-person shooter action that is head and shoulders about the competition, regardless of who or what that may be. Pyrozen is the developer that is responsible for this brilliant series of games. A first-person shooter with RPG qualities, Sift Heads 5 takes the series up another gear with more missions, new weapons, and more fantastic ways kill the bad guys than ever before. You'll be embarking on missions of your own choosing and often in the order that you wish, and will be able to upgrade to better weapons as you go. You are very unlikely to find a game of this genre that will even begin to compete with Sift Heads 5, so it's worth giving it some consideration.
The gameplay follows a format that is reminiscent of the great Grand Theft Auto, with the ability to freely explore the city that you live in by using the mouse to navigate you around. You can visit various locations and interact with various people at your behest, activating missions and discovering vital bits of information along the way. The shooting aspect comes into play when you press the spacebar, which enters into 'aggressive' mode, which essentially means drawing your weapon. Once your gun is drawn, you aim with the mouse, fire with the left button of said mouse, and reload with the R button, much like any first-person shooter you are likely to have played.
Where the game first deviates from the action shooter norm is in the sheer variety of missions and shooting scenarios that you get to engage in. The game begins with an example of this, putting you in control of a pistol during a car chase where you must aim and shoot at the driver and passenger of the car in front of you. Missions range from revenge kills to simple contracts where you can earn money for carrying out tasks like eliminating the organisers of a loud party and silencing the music.
One of the fun parts of the game is earning enough money to upgrade your weapons in order to give you better firepower during your missions and pull them off with more style. You can buy a Desert Eagle, Glock, M26, Dragunov Sniper Rifle, AK-47 and more, as well as having to buy munitions for your guns since they don't have an unlimited supply of ammo. You can also unlock the different buildings on the main building map of the game by completing your various missions.
If you haven't played Sift Heads before, then it is pretty easy to get to grips with the action, since the first-person format is easy to grasp and the missions are pretty self-explanatory. The game's style is one of its distinguishing features, with Sift Heads 5 going beyond simple stick-figures and containing characters with attitude, back-stories, and generally very entertaining tendencies (Vinnie in particular). Sift Heads 5 is a game that every action-shooter fan should play, and will impress anyone that lays their eyes on it.
